The first-place Miami (GCL) Marlins took on the St. Louis (GCL) Cardinals in front of a spirited crowd.

Thanks in large part to third baseman Spike Abrams, the Miami (GCL) Marlins beat the St. Louis (GCL) Cardinals, 6-3. Abrams went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2. The win was credited to Steve Saunders in relief. His record improves to 4-1. Víctor Gutiérrez took the loss. Jody Watkins got credit for the save for Miami (GCL). It was his 4th of the year.

Jake Jackson hit a 2-run home run off Víctor Gutiérrez in the bottom of the sixth, which put the Marlins ahead, 3-2. In addition to the homer, Jackson had 1 double, while going 2 for 2.

Abrams was taciturn after the game. "A win's a win," he said.

The first-place Marlins have won 7 straight games.
