Erkan Socks It to Orioles, Cracks 5 Hits
|
The Minnesota (GCL) Twins stopped the Baltimore (GCL) Orioles by a score of 8-3 at Ed Smith Stadium, with the lion's share of the credit going to left fielder Orkut Erkan. The 21-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits.
"Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," Erkan said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard."
Erkan did just that in his 5 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the Orioles.
"Not much that I can say," offered Baltimore (GCL) manager Chris Dwyer. "He just hammered the heck out of us."
Orkut Erkan singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, tripled in the 8th and walked in the 9th.
So far this season, Erkan has put up a .450 batting average with 50 hits, 2 home runs and 18 RBIs.
