Athletics, Reds Play 11 to Settle Game 1, Oakland (AZL) Now Leads Series 1-0
One game in and the Round 1 is already looking exhausting.

The Oakland (AZL) Athletics and the Cincinnati (AZL) Reds needed 11 innings to settle Game 1, with the Athletics finally taking the 2-1 victory at Ed Smith Stadium. Excelling in the win was Oakland (AZL) pitcher Luis Ramírez, who threw 8.0 innings allowing 1 run. The Athletics and Reds are playing a best-of-5 series.

Bob Sinclair came through with a big-time hit for Oakland (AZL). The designated hitter smacked a solo home run in the top of the 11th inning to give his team the lead, 2-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"We just didn't score enough runs to win," said Cincinnati (AZL) manager Mark Lamm.
