Reds Lose to Cubs, 5-3
|
The Chicago Cubs beat the Cincinnati Reds, 5-3, at Great American Ball Park. Miguel Angel López, in particular, was impressive. He was 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Keury Mella got the win, improving to 3-3. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 6 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 2. Chicago is now 23-30, Cincinnati 22-31.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Dave Hopper? The 27-year old center fielder Hopper stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put Chicago up, 4-3. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"You win some, you lose some. I don't get too caught up in all that," said Hopper.
