Austin Blasts Firebirds, Tides Take Game 1, 5-3
The Norfolk Tides started the Round 1 in style, winning on the road against the Gwinnett Firebirds at Coolray Field by a score of 5-3 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Tides first baseman Wilbert Austin excelled. He hit 2 home runs.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Rob Robinson? The Norfolk right fielder had a 2-run single in the top of the sixth inning to put the Tides on top, 4-1. For the game, Robinson had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

In comments to the Norfolk Daily, Austin admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Coolray Field in Lawrenceville.
