Toledo's Starter Receives IL Pitching Award

Juan López was firing on all cylinders in the month of August with 4 wins as he steamrolled all International League opposition on his way to the Pitcher of the Month award.
During the month López was 4-0 with a 1.02 ERA. He made 5 starts, tossed 35.1 innings and had 28 strikeouts.
Currently López has a record of 10-5 with 131 strikeouts and 51 walks in 147.1 innings and a 2.81 ERA.

Gwinnett's Abbott Bags IL Batting Award

Even though he is a newcomer to International League, Jeff Abbott put up some good numbers in August and earned the IL Batter of the Month award.
He was one of Gwinnett's offensive leaders with a .327 average in 26 games. He also racked up 3 home runs, 15 RBIs, and 18 runs scored.
So far this season, Abbott has 14 home runs and a .275 batting average.

Biester Blisters Syracuse

Buffalo center fielder Tomás Biester could do no wrong in his team's 17-9 win over the Chiefs, as he collected 5 hits.
"Things were in his favor in every one of his at-bats," Chiefs skipper Dave Anderson said to the press corps after the game. "He got hitters' counts."
Biester agreed, saying that getting ahead early in the counts was "the key" to his game.
"Once you get ahead, it makes it a lot easier because you get a better pitch to hit," he said. "You know the pitcher has to come in with it. And you're ready."
Tomás Biester doubled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 5th, singled in the 7th, struck out in the 8th, singled in the 11th and walked in the 12th.
Thus far this year, Biester is hitting .201 with 2 home runs, 29 RBIs and 28 runs scored.
