Watkins Selected IL's Top Player Saturday, October 10th , 2026 Doug Watkins of the Pawtucket Red Sox had a fine season this year and today he accepted the Most Valuable Player Award for 2026. The 27-year-old shortstop put up a .280 average and a .372 on-base percentage, piling up 111 hits, 16 doubles, 3 triples, 7 home runs, 39 RBIs and 61 runs scored. He received 5 first place votes out of a possible 14. Tony Peña of the Indianapolis Arrows finished second in voting, while Kurt Newton of the Toledo Mud Hens finished third with 6 first place votes.
