Valentín Blasts RoughRiders, Hooks Take Game 2, 6-5
As the Corpus Christi Hooks and Frisco RoughRiders battled through extra innings, it was a rookie who made the difference.

Young Corpus Christi second baseman Augusto Valentín, 23 led the way with a strong hitting performance in the 11-inning marathon. Valentín was 3 for 5 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk during the 6-5 Corpus Christi win over the RoughRiders. The win gives the Hooks a 2-0 lead in the best-of-5 Round 1.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the 11th. With one out, Valentín hit a fastball from Joel Howell for a solo home run. The Hooks, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.

"Extras are exciting for the fans, but they are tough for the visitors because every time they're at the plate, they can end it with one swing," said RoughRiders manager Mike Breyman.

Game 3 is scheduled for Sunday at Dr. Pepper Ballpark in Frisco.
