TEX Selects Bernard May's #1 Pitcher

The Texas League announced the winner of the Pitcher of the Month Award for May.
It went to Juan Bernard of San Antonio for his outstanding 4-0 record and 1.80 ERA.
Bernard also chalked up 6 starts, 40 innings and 48 strikeouts.
So far this year, Bernard has made 9 starts, tossed 63.1 innings, struck out 74 batters and walked 37. His record is 6-0 with a 1.85 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .206 batting average.

Cruz Wins TEX's Best Bat Award

Cisco Cruz has a lot going for him. The Arkansas center fielder just broke into the majors this year and now the Texas League has just picked him as its top hitter for May.
In 25 games last month this outstanding rookie batted .376 with 3 home runs, 22 RBIs and 21 runs scored.
So far this season, Cruz has put up a .301 batting average with 44 hits, 4 home runs and 32 RBIs.
