The Bakersfield Blaze started the Round 2 in style, winning on the road against the Lancaster JetHawks at The Hanger by a score of 11-7 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Blaze third baseman Juan Chávez excelled. He was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4.

In the top of the second, Bakersfield first baseman Chris Price had a productive at-bat. With a runner on 2nd and no one out, Price stroked a 2-run home run to left. It made the score 2-0, Bakersfield. For the game, he went 1-4 with a home run and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.

"It's on me," said JetHawks manager George Lombard. "The guys I sent out there today were the wrong ones for the situation. I'll be sure to send the right ones out next time."
