The home crowd had a good time watching the Reading Fightin Phils and New Britain Rock Cats get after it.

Despite a fine performance by third baseman Raúl Alonso, the Reading Fightin Phils lost to the New Britain Rock Cats, 10-4. Alonso was 2-5 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The win was credited to Alex Miller in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Kevin Rodgers took the loss.

In the bottom of the third, Luis Pérez delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 1st and 3rd, the New Britain right fielder hit a run-scoring single, putting the Rock Cats in front, 10-4.

"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Pérez. "You've got to get results."

Reading falls to 12-13.
