When the games really matter, the South Bend Cubs put on their best show, beating the Clinton LumberKings by a final score of 6-5. Johnny Morgan threw 8.1 innings of 7-hit ball. South Bend now leads Clinton 3-0 in the best-of-7 affair.

Bob Lambert delivered a run-scoring hit-by-pitch in the bottom of the ninth to win it for the Cubs. For the game, Lambert was 1 for 4 with a double and was hit by a pitch, while adding 2 RBI.

"We don't have much margin for error now," LumberKings manager Clay Buchholz said. "We need to figure out the problem and fix it, immediately."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Stanley Coveleski Regional Stadium in South Bend.
