Briggs Hits 2 home runs in Diamondbacks Win
The performance of Derek Briggs proved critical in helping Arizona beat Cincinnati, 11-8. The Diamondbacks second baseman belted 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. Dan Edwards was called on to finish, recording his 3rd save. The Diamondbacks bumped their record to 38-26 with this latest triumph.

Ken Frazier had a big 2-run triple for the Diamondbacks in the top of the first inning. With Arizona leading 3-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a changeup from 27-year old left-handed pitcher Walt Sharpe and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 4th triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Diamondbacks ahead, 5-0.

In postgame comments to the Arizona Observer, Briggs said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
