A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Washington Nationals and Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Washington Nationals picked up a win at Chase Field, knocking off the Arizona Diamondbacks, 8-4. On the mound for Washington was right-hander Joey Gatto. He played a key role in the triumph. The win boosted Washington to 42-23.

Early in the game, first baseman Nick Castellanos had a solo home run for Washington. It was his 9th home run of the season and put the Nationals on top, 2-1.

"Really good pitchers have that ability to raise their game when they need to," said Washington manager Mark Grudzielanek.
