Nelson Martínez was a major factor in the 5-3 Portland win over Binghamton. The Sea Dogs third baseman went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Portland reliever Ken Patrick was the winner. His record is now 2-0. The losing pitcher was Tomás Ganoso. The Mets, now 8-19, continue their poor start.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With two out, Martínez hit a sinker from Tomás Ganoso for a 2-run home run. The Sea Dogs, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
