Washington Beats San Francisco, 3-1
|
The Washington Nationals got a magnificent performance from pitcher Jose Berrios, who muffled the San Francisco offense en route to a tight, 3-1 Nationals win at AT&T Park. Jim McCain, credited with the win in relief, is now 2-1. He allowed no runs on no hits in 0.2 innings. Dominic Bingham notched his 22nd save of the season.
Shane Mardirosian, who is tied for 10th in the NL in triples with 3, had a direct impact on the outcome. Mardirosian contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning to put Washington up, 3-1.
"I tried to mix it up, keep them off balance," said Berrios.
Washington improves to 43-25 with the win. They lead their division by 7½ games.
