The Richmond Flying Squirrels defeated the Altoona Curve, 3-2, in Eastern League action at People's Natural Gas Field. Richmond pitcher Manny Pérez had a standout performance. Pérez picked up the win for Richmond, going 8 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 3-3. Bob Gordon was called on to finish, recording his 7th save.

Richmond took a 3-0 lead on José Franco's 5th home run of the season. The solo home run, which Franco hit in the top of the eighth, left Altoona pitcher Bruno Dennis visibly frustrated.

"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Pérez said after the game.

Richmond goes to 12-15.
