In a tight tilt between the Portland Sea Dogs and the Binghamton Mets, José Pérez was the deciding factor. The Portland left-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win. Pérez, the winner, moves to 3-1. He threw 6.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 2 walks. The victory makes Portland 19-9.
Catcher Luis Sánchez made an impact for Portland, when he swatted a run-scoring double off Augusto Rodríguez in the bottom of the fifth. For the contest, Sánchez went 2 for 4 with a double.
"The key for me has just been attacking the zone and hitting my spots. When I'm throwing strikes and not falling behind in counts, those are the days when I pitch really good," said Pérez.
