Flying Squirrels Get Clutch Win Versus Altoona
The 5-4 Richmond win over Altoona was due in large part to Ken Evans. The Flying Squirrels third baseman went 2-2 with a double and 3 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Richmond reliever Devin Green picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Greg Murray absorbed the loss. The Curve fall to 11-17 and continue their unimpressive start to the 2026 season.

The Flying Squirrels were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth inning, when 26-year old first baseman Ron Thomason landed a big blow. He turned a 1-1 curveball from Greg Murray into a 2-run single. The walk-off single sent the Senator Thomas J. Dodd Memorial Stadium denizens into a frenzy and sent the Flying Squirrels home with a thrilling 5-4 win.

"We ground out the win," said Evans. "That's all that matters."
