The bat of Juan Rivera helped the Portland Sea Dogs top the Akron RubberDucks, 5-4. Rivera was 2 for 4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Portland. Portland reliever António López snagged the win, upping his record to 1-0. Walt Ashley shouldered the loss. Dave Lavington finished to wrap up his 6th save.

With Portland trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the fourth, Rivera hit a fastball from Walt Ashley for a 2-run double. It was his 3rd double of the season and put the Sea Dogs ahead, 2-1.

"Both teams played hard," said Portland manager Stu Cole.

The defeat makes Akron 14-14.
