Edmund Richards did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Richmond Flying Squirrels from being beaten, 6-5, to the Altoona Curve at Senator Thomas J. Dodd Memorial Stadium. Richards went 2-4 with 2 singles, while scoring 2 times. Greg Murray saved it for Altoona. The Curve improved their record to 12-17 with the win over Richmond.

It could have been a different outcome for Altoona, had it not been for Rubén Águila, the 25-year old right fielder . Águila contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the first inning to put Altoona up, 2-0.

"It's the best feeling when you come through for your teammates," said Águila.
