Thunder Fall to Mets, 5-3
|
The Binghamton Mets picked up a win at Arm & Hammer Park, knocking off the Trenton Thunder, 5-3. Starting pitcher Daniel Merced played a key role in the triumph. Merced got the win, improving to 2-3. He gave up 5 hits and walked 3 over 6 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Walt Wallis nailed down his 1st save.
Binghamton used a well-timed hit by Rob Elliott to capture the win. The shortstop socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Mets ahead, 4-2. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
"Really good pitchers have that ability to raise their game when they need to," said Binghamton manager Lee Tinsley.
With the win, the Mets are 10-22.
