Flying Squirrels Earn Clutch Win, 3-2
The Richmond Flying Squirrels picked up a win at Senator Thomas J. Dodd Memorial Stadium, knocking off the Erie SeaWolves, 3-2, in 10 innings. Starting pitcher Mike Thompson played a key role in the conquest. Richmond reliever Jimmy Tirney picked up the win, upping his record to 2-4. Chuck Parsons was saddled with the loss. The loss makes Erie 24-7.

Hugh Rutherford delivered a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the tenth to win it for the Flying Squirrels. For the game, Rutherford went 2 for 4 with 2 singles and a walk.

"It'd be nice to win by four or five runs," Rutherford said, "instead of holding our breath the whole game."
