McIntyre Powers Fightin Phils to 9-6 Win
|
Spirited fans greeted the Richmond Flying Squirrels for their clash with the Reading Fightin Phils.
With center fielder Dave McIntyre leading the charge, the Reading Fightin Phils defeated the Richmond Flying Squirrels, 9-6, at Senator Thomas J. Dodd Memorial Stadium. McIntyre, who is tied for 9th in the EL in triples with 2, was 3 for 4 with a home run, a triple, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. The third-place Fightin Phils have won 4 straight games.
Reading used a clutch at-bat from Chris Singleton Jr. to capture the win. The catcher hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Fightin Phils ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"When I'm in the lineup, I always feel like we're going to win the game," said McIntyre.
