Philadelphia took on Seattle in a contest which featured a pitchers' duel. Luis Miguel Rivera, in particular, was fantastic. The Philadelphia right-hander helped his team snag the win, 2-1. Rivera got the win, improving to 4-6. He gave up 3 hits and walked 3 over 6.1 innings. He allowed 1 run. Philadelphia is now 62-63, while Seattle is 65-61.

With scoring opportunities rare, the Phillies had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the third, when right fielder Ivan Hakanson hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Dave Evans and made the score 2-0, Phillies. Hakanson was 2 for 3 with 2 singles and a walk.

"Luis Miguel is tough to beat when he's hitting his spots," said Philadelphia manager Robby Jenkins.
