The Richmond Flying Squirrels topped the Portland Sea Dogs, 6-3, in Eastern League action at Senator Thomas J. Dodd Memorial Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Richmond pitcher Edgardo Roa. Picking up the save was Bob Gordon, his 10th. The Flying Squirrels, at 19-24, inhabit 5th place in the Northern Division.

Jorge Morales helped out the Richmond cause in the bottom of the second inning with a run-scoring ground out. For the game, the designated hitter went 1-4.

"We need to string a few more wins like this one together," said Roa.
