The rain came, as predicted, but the Miami Marlins and New York Mets were able to complete their ballgame.

Ben Anderson pitched a gem to lead Miami to victory over the New York Mets, 4-1. In 6 innings, Anderson surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 9 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run.

Miami used a well-timed hit by Daryl Hatfield to capture the win. The right fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Marlins ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.

"Ben gave us everything he had," said Miami manager John Patterson.
