Sea Dogs Back to .500 With Win Over Flying Squirrels
|
The Portland Sea Dogs beat the Richmond Flying Squirrels, 7-4, with major props going to third baseman José Puente. On the day, Puente was 3-5 with a home run and a double. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Sea Dogs. Ed MacFadden, who is tied for 10th in the EL in complete games with 1, was the winning pitcher. Over 7 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 8 hits, with 3 walks and 8 strikeouts. By defeating Richmond, the 4th-place Sea Dogs improved to 24-24.
With the game tied, 2-2, in the bottom of the sixth, Puente had a key at-bat for Portland. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, Puente hit a 2-run single off Edgardo Roa, making the score 4-2, Sea Dogs.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Puente said.
