Boyd Helps Rock Cats Defeat Thunder, 7-2
|
Led by Ken Boyd, the New Britain Rock Cats downed the Trenton Thunder, 7-2. Boyd went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2 for the Rock Cats. With the win, New Britain has a record of 27-21. Trenton falls to 28-20.
New Britain used the hitting of Mario Díaz to pick up the win. The center fielder clubbed a grand slam home run in the top of the second inning to put the Rock Cats on top, 5-0. For the game, Díaz had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said New Britain manager Gary Kendall.
