Nationals Turn Back White Sox, 9-8
|
Despite a great performance by Chicago first baseman Ji-man Choi, the Washington Nationals defeated the White Sox by the score of 9-8 at Nationals Park. Choi went 3-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. Jim McCain was the winner in relief. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Alec Asher. Robbie McJannett recorded the save, making him 34 for 40.
Christian Walker went 1-3 with a walk and was hit by a pitch, while adding 3 RBI for Washington. The two-time All-Star had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 6-6 tie with a run-scoring hit-by-pitch off T.J. Adams. It was his 78th RBI of the season.
"We'll take this win and move on," said Walker.
The win for the Nationals raised their record to 85-76.
