Fisher Cats Victors, 5-4, at Binghamton
|
The New Hampshire Fisher Cats weathered an outstanding game by Binghamton left fielder Mike Sperring to topple the Mets, 5-4. Sperring went 2 for 4 with a triple and a walk, while scoring 2 times. Today's win puts New Hampshire at 27-24, while Binghamton falls to 20-31.
It could have been a different outcome for New Hampshire, had it not been for Augusto Mercado, the 23-year old shortstop . Mercado contributed a 2-run single in the top of the fourth inning to put New Hampshire up, 3-1.
New Hampshire manager Rafael Gil commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."
