Gwinnett pitcher Gilberto Valéncia did his part in helping his team defeat the Buffalo Bisons, 7-1. The opposition could never get too much going against the right-hander. Valéncia, who is tied for 9th in the IL in innings pitched with 65.1, went the distance for Gwinnett. He gave up 1 run on 7 hits. The Hammers now have a record of 20-26 with the win over Buffalo.

Jesús Bermúdez had a big run-scoring double for the Hammers in the top of the fifth inning. With Gwinnett leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a slider from Ernie Ramírez and swatted a double to left. It was his 14th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Hammers ahead, 2-0.

"I thought we played a nice game," Bermúdez told the Gwinnett Observer. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
