Hugh Lemley, who is tied for 6th in the IL in quality starts with 7, was locked in. The right-hander led the Syracuse Chiefs to a 4-2 win against the Columbus Clippers at NBT Bank Stadium. The Chiefs now have a record of 18-28 with the win over Columbus.

The Clippers had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Chiefs going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 26-year old second baseman Dave Drew came to the plate. Drew hit a run-scoring double on a full count fastball from Columbus hurler Jim Acosta. It was Drew's 9th double of the year.

"Our offense was purring," said Syracuse manager Dave Anderson. "Like a well-oiled machine."
