The Pawtucket Red Sox weathered a fine game by Norfolk designated hitter Ron Lilly to upend the Tides, 9-8, at Harbor Park. Lilly was 2 for 5 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. With the win over Norfolk, the Red Sox improved to 22-28.

Pawtucket used a well-timed hit by Doug Watkins to capture the win. The center fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Red Sox ahead, 7-6. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"We'll take this win and move on," said Watkins.
