Reading picked up a win at Prince George's Stadium, bumping off the Bowie Baysox, 10-2. Pitcher Dave Steward was a major reason the Fightin Phils emerged victorious. The win gives Reading a season record of 26-26.

Reading used the hitting of Doug Reese to pick up the win. The center fielder clubbed a grand slam home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Fightin Phils on top, 9-1. For the game, Reese had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
