The Columbus Clippers picked up a win at Huntington Park, downing the Indianapolis Arrows, 3-2. On the mound for Columbus was right-hander Tim Garnham, who played a pivotal role in the win. Jesus A. Sanchez, credited with the save, is now 4 for 4 in save opportunities. Today's win puts Columbus at 38-22, while Indianapolis falls to 19-41.
The game was at a stalemate until catcher Jorge Acosta came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Indianapolis pitcher Jesús Vásquez, he hit a 0-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Columbus on top, 3-2.
"Every loss hurts," said Indianapolis manager Walt Wilhelms. "But this was a tough one."
