The Norfolk Tides banked on Miguel Lara and he turned in a masterful performance. The right-hander kept the Charlotte hitters in check. The final score was 2-1, Tides. Norfolk pitcher Pete Griffin earned the win, hiking his record to 1-0. Jim Miller suffered the loss. Norfolk, with the win, is 21-39.

Norfolk left fielder Mariano Rosas helped the Tides go up, 2-1, in the bottom of the sixth inning. With the game tied, Rosas hit a run-scoring single off Charlotte pitcher Jim Miller.

"I liked his command," said Norfolk manager Charlie Poe. "Miguel was throwing strikes."
