Phil Childress could take little solace in pitching a good game. The fact is his Charlotte Knights lost, dropping a 1-0 decision to the Norfolk Tides at Harbor Park. Picking up the save was 24-year old right-handed pitcher Randy Delgado. Norfolk is now 22-39, Charlotte 31-30.

Norfolk took a 1-0 lead on José Martínez's 10th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Martínez hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Charlotte pitcher Tyler Skaggs visibly frustrated.

In postgame remarks, Martínez hailed his team's "single-minded determination."
