The Louisville Bats beat the Columbus Clippers, 8-3, at Louisville Slugger Stadium. Louisville left fielder Arturo Ortega had the hot bat. He was 2 for 3 with a double and a walk, while scoring 3. The save was Steve Erwin's, his 1st. The defeat makes Columbus 39-23.

Raúl Bauiero had a big 3-run home run for the Bats in the bottom of the first inning. With Louisville trailing 3-2 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a curveball from Sandy Cline and swatted a home run to left-center. It was his 2nd home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Bats ahead, 5-3.

"We didn't pitch good, and when you don't pitch good, you lose," said Columbus manager Carlos Garcia.
