Toledo 48-20 After 6-3 Win Over Gwinnett

The Gwinnett Hammers and Toledo Mud Hens riveted fans at Fifth Third Field.
The Toledo Mud Hens beat the Gwinnett Hammers, 6-3, at Fifth Third Field. The Mud Hens got a fine performance from right fielder Jerry Smith, who went 2 for 3 with a home run, a triple, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Juan López, the winning pitcher, improved to 6-1. He pitched 7.1 innings, giving up 9 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 7 and walking 2.
Smith had a game-changing triple in the bottom of the seventh. On a first pitch slider from Jeff Reid, he banged a 2-run triple to left-center, giving the Mud Hens a 4-3 lead. It was the 2nd triple of the year for Smith.
"There were things that we could've improved upon," said Mud Hens manager Yusmeiro Petit, "but all in all, I'm satisfied with our performance."
Toledo, at 48-20, is cruising.
