Álvarez Excels, But Chihuahuas Win
Despite a great performance by Reno designated hitter Luis Álvarez, the El Paso Chihuahuas defeated the Aces by the score of 12-9 at Aces Ballpark. Álvarez belted 2 home runs. He drove in 6 runs and scored twice. Tommy Walker, 1-0, earned the win in relief. He allowed 4 runs on 5 hits in 3 innings. El Paso, now 7-2, is setting the league on fire so far.

Juan Jose Ayala had a big bases-clearing double for the Chihuahuas in the top of the third inning. With El Paso leading 2-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from 24-year old right-handed pitcher Ken Shaw and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 1st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Chihuahuas ahead, 5-0.

"We're stringing together some nice wins," said El Paso manager Andy Hayes.
