Salt Lake got a valiant performance from pitcher Mike Fry, but it wasn't enough to beat the Las Vegas 51s. Las Vegas won the game, 7-4. Fry threw 7.0 innings of 2-hit ball for the losing team. Luis Antonio González, the winner, goes to 2-1. He allowed 3 runs on 11 hits, with 2 walks and 7 strikeouts over 8 innings. The Bees, now 4-13, continue their sluggish start.
Las Vegas used the timely hitting of Manny García to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the 51s on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
In postgame comments to the Las Vegas Citizen, García said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
