The Las Vegas 51s got a strong performance from pitcher Dave Mata, who stymied the Salt Lake offense en route to a win, 7-1, at Smith's Ballpark. The Bees, at 4-15, have stumbled out of the gate.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Manny García? The Las Vegas right fielder had a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the 51s on top, 2-0. For the game, García had 1 double and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
