The Nashville Sounds outlasted the Memphis Redbirds, 9-5, in 10 innings. Willie Harris played a key role, going 3-for-5 for Nashville. Picking up his 3rd save was 24-year old right-handed pitcher Bennie Middehof. With the loss, Memphis drops to 9-12.

Nashville used the timely hitting of Glen Porter to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Sounds on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"There's no quit in this team," said Sounds manager Steve Scarsone.
