The Colorado Springs Sky Sox in 10 innings downed the Tacoma Rainiers, 5-3, at Cheney Stadium. Luis Sánchez led the way, going 3-for-5 for Colorado Springs. The win went to Dan McCurley in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Robbie Jones took the loss. The save was credited to Ken Greenwood, his 1st.
Sánchez had a game-changing home run in the top of the tenth. On a 1-0 fastball from Robbie Jones, he banged a 2-run home run to left-center, giving the Sky Sox a 5-3 lead. It was the 2nd home run of the year for Sánchez.
In postgame comments, Sánchez said, "I think we gave the fans their money's worth."
The win puts Colorado Springs at 10-13.
