The Salt Lake Bees spoiled a good performance by El Paso catcher Tony Brune, bumping off El Paso, 6-4, at . Brune went 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs. Dave Jones earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 2.2 innings. His record is now 1-0. José Olivas recorded his 4th save for Salt Lake.

Dave Oliver drew 1 walk for Salt Lake. The 23-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the fifth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Dan Bowen. It was his 1st RBI of the season.
