New Orleans Sent Home with 8-3 Loss
|
The first-place El Paso Chihuahuas took on the New Orleans Zephyrs in front of a spirited crowd.
The El Paso Chihuahuas beat the New Orleans Zephyrs, 8-3, at . Whit Cameron, in particular, was impressive. He went 3 for 3 with 3 singles, while adding 5 RBI. Don Scott, the winner, improved to 1-0. He held the Zephyrs to no runs on 5 hits over 6.1 innings, while striking out 7 and walking 1.
El Paso designated hitter Clint Moore contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a changeup to left-center field for a 2-run single. It was his 13th hit of the season and put the Chihuahuas ahead, 2-0.
"We're all about heart and hustle on this team. That's what wins ballgames," Cameron told the El Paso Chronicle.
The Chihuahuas now have a record of 22-9 with the win over New Orleans.
