Tacoma picked up a win at Smith's Ballpark, bumping off the Salt Lake Bees, 4-0. Pitcher Dave Evans was a major reason the Rainiers emerged victorious. The winner in relief was Jeremiah MacGregor. He is now 2-0. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.1 innings. Earning his 2nd save for Tacoma was Robbie Jones.

Tacoma needed the clutch hitting of Steve Wilson to seal the deal. The right fielder swatted a grand slam home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Rainiers on top, 4-0. For the game, Wilson had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"Dave was doing a good job pouring in strikes," said Tacoma manager Mario Garza.

The Rainiers sport a record of 11-20.
