Bats Stumble, Fall to Mud Hens, 8-2
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Toledo Mud Hens and Louisville Bats.
Toledo starter Spike Kimball pitched well against the Louisville Bats at Louisville Slugger Stadium. The right-hander led his team to a win, 8-2. Kimball yielded 2 runs over 8.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out 6. His record improves to 1-0.
Toledo used the hitting of Héctor Orozco to pick up the win. The catcher clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Mud Hens on top, 4-1. For the game, Orozco had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Spike is still learning," said Mud Hens manager Yusmeiro Petit. "The sky's the limit for him."
With the win, Toledo is 4-0.
