Storm Chasers Squeeze By Sacramento, 4-3
|
Sacramento got a valiant performance from pitcher Esteban Correa, but it wasn't enough to beat the Omaha Storm Chasers. Omaha won the game, 4-3. Correa threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Stan Spencer picked up the win in relief for Omaha, while Dan Groves took the loss. Dave Howard earned the save, his 7th.
Omaha used the timely hitting of Edwin Wolf to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Storm Chasers on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Wolf called the win a testament to his team's "tenacity."
After today's action, Omaha sits at 18-14; Sacramento slips to 25-7.
