In a low-scoring tilt between the Louisville Bats and the Toledo Mud Hens, 26-year old right-handed pitcher Daniel Álvarez was the difference-maker. The Louisville right-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win. Louisville reliever Daniel Álvarez was credited with the win. His record goes to 1-0. Rusty Stevenson took the loss for Toledo. Picking up the save was Doug Hall, his 2nd.
In the bottom of the third, José Gonsáles delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and a runner on 3rd, the Louisville center fielder hit a run-scoring single, putting the Bats in front, 2-1.
"Every loss hurts," said Toledo manager Yusmeiro Petit. "But this was a tough one."
The win puts Louisville at 2-2.
